Queenstown Mountain Guides specialise in privately guided climbs of Mt Cook, Mt Aspiring, Mitre Peak and other significant New Zealand mountains. From our home base in Queenstown we operate trips to the Mt Cook areas, the Fox and Franz Joseph Glaciers, the Mt Aspiring National Park, and the Darran Mountains.
MOUNTAINEERING COURSES
We offer a variety of mountaineering courses for beginner through to advanced climbers. Our beginner courses will teach you the basic mountaineering skills of rock climbing, snow and ice climbing, safety skills and use of equipment, and rope work.
Our advanced courses will take you climbing on some of the amazing big routes in the New Zealand southern alps. You will learn lead climbing skills for multi-pitch alpine and rock terrain. We can help you develop your climbing skills so you can get to the next level.
REMARKABLES CLIMBING
The Remarkables mountain range tower above Queenstown and are known as the “Chamonix of the South.” The Remarkables offer easy access and huge amount of climbing options in both the summer and winter seasons. The Remarkables are located further to the east of the main divide of New Zealands southern Alps so are more sheltered from New Zealands famous weather.
ROCK CLIMBING
Queenstown is one of New Zealand’s most popular climbing destinations with the local climbing areas offer high quality rock and spectacular mountain backdrops. The Remarkables mountain range offer easy access to classic and spectacular multi-pitch rock climbing. Close to Queenstown the Darran mountains is the home to New Zealand’s best alpine rock climbing with world class steep granite faces and soaring alpine ridge lines.
